Testimonials

“Working with Michael on various video projects has been some of the most rewarding collaborative time that I’ve had as a visual artist. As a videographer, he seems to know exactly where to be at just the right time, often with a creative solution to a question I didn’t know I had. As an editor, Michael is patient and professional. Perhaps his greatest strenth, besides his wamth and easy manner, is his ability to amplify the director’s vision while providing unobtrusive suggestions to further a project along. I’ve loved every minute of working with Michael, he has an adventurous spirit and the technial prowess to make every video potent.”

Kate McCloughlin, Painter, Printmaker

“I have known Michael Nelson for many years. He is a talented artist in many areas and always approaches his work with professionalism. If I ask him to do something for me personally or in another capacity, I know that I will be very happy with the end results.”

Barbara Bravo, Saugerties Artist Studio Tour Director

“Michael Nelson is an artist. Whether in the realm of portraiture, videography, aerial drone footage, or production and editing, Michael brings a strong aesthetic, a sense of storytelling, enthusiasm for the subject and deep engagement with the project. He’s been a true creative partner on all the projects we’ve done together, and that’s not easy to find.”

Patty Goodwin, Creative Director, Woodstock

Michael Nelson has been a good friend and is clearly a wonderful photographer. He did a great job assisting me in creating a 54 minute documentary called, "Why Can't We Serve." Mike knew very little about blindness and I knew nothing about making a movie. But together we worked well, and completed a meaningful film.

Mike was present with all the film making issues, as well as with listening to me with regards to what I needed and what I didn't need. I'm not sure I could have completed the film if I had to work with another person who may not have had those skills. He was just great to work with.

As a blind veteran, I am proud of my efforts with the documentary toward helping to reduce veteran suicides in our country. I would consider myself lucky if I could work with Mike on another project.

Marty Klein, Producer for the documentary, “Why Can’t We Serve”
